Import Voice Memos into Limemo

Voice Memos saves to Files, and Limemo imports from Files. Two steps, one file at a time, and what comes back is a transcript split by speaker with a summary.

Applies to Limemo 1.0.0 · Updated September 11, 2026

  1. Open Voice Memos and tap the recording you want.
  2. Tap the more button (…) and choose Share.
  3. In the share sheet, tap Save to Files and pick a folder you will recognise — On My iPhone or iCloud Drive both work.
  4. Open Limemo and tap the + button, then choose to import a file.
  5. Pick the memo in the file picker. The upload starts as soon as you choose it.
  6. Wait for the note. It arrives with the transcript split by speaker and a summary in the format you pick.

Voice Memos exports m4a, which is one of the audio types Limemo’s picker asks for, so the file is selectable without converting anything.

If that didn’t work

  • The memo is greyed out in Limemo’s picker. The picker only offers audio files, PDFs and video files. If a memo will not select, check that what you saved is the recording itself rather than a shortcut or a link to it.
  • The memo is in iCloud but not on this iPhone. Files shows it with a download arrow. Tap it in Files first, let it download, then import it.
  • Nothing happens after you pick the file. The upload needs a connection — the transcript is made on Limemo’s servers, not on the phone. Try again on Wi-Fi.
  • The note is still processing. A note moves through five visible steps. From Transcribing onward you can leave the screen and come back.

Can I import several memos at once?

No. Limemo’s file picker takes one file per import, so five memos are five imports. They queue up as separate notes, which is also what you want when you rename the speakers afterwards.

Does Limemo see my Voice Memos automatically?

No, and it cannot. Limemo has no access to the Voice Memos library and no share extension in the iOS share sheet, so a memo reaches Limemo only when you save it to Files and import it yourself. Which audio files Limemo can import has the full list, and how to transcribe a voice memo on iPhone compares this route with recording the next memo in the app.
