Where your recordings and notes are stored, and for how long
A recording is kept both on your device and on Limemo's servers: encrypted in transit and at rest, and deletable at any time.
Your recordings, transcripts and summaries are kept both on your device and on Limemo’s servers — encrypted in transit and at rest, and deletable at any time. Both places, not one: the transcription and the summarizing happen on the servers, which is why a copy lives there as well as on your phone.
What is stored where
| What | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| The audio | Your device and the servers |
| The transcript | Inside the note, on both |
| The summary and its translations | With the note, on both |
| AI chat about a note | The servers own it; a copy is cached in the note |
| Your account | Limemo’s servers |
Deleting a note takes it, and everything in that table that belongs to it, out of your account on every device. Deleting your account removes all of it, including the recordings Limemo stores.
There is no expiry to plan around: a note stays for as long as you want it, and it leaves when you say so. Nothing is aged out from under you, and nothing is deleted because a plan lapsed — deleting is a decision you make, not something that happens to your notes.
- Your notes are not tied to one phone. Sign in, and they are available on any device — after switching phones or reinstalling, they come back.
- A note pulled onto a new phone has no audio file on that phone yet. The note shows a download control instead of the play button; tap it and the recording comes down.
What happens after I cancel?
Cancelling stops the billing, not the storage: your notes are not deleted because a subscription ended, and none of them stops being readable. What a subscription governs is making new things — recording, importing a file, asking the AI — not opening, reading, searching or exporting what is already in the app. Deleting your data is a separate thing you can do at any time, subscribed or not — see how to cancel for the billing side.
What happens when I delete a note or my data?
The note goes from your account, and its audio, transcript and summary go with it — there is no partial deletion. Deletion is sent to the servers first and only then applied on your phone, which is what stops a deleted note reappearing on the next sync. How to delete your data has both paths, and how Limemo handles your recordings covers the security detail.
