How to transcribe a Zoom recording
Once the call ends, what you have is a file. Everything below starts from there, which is why the steps are the same whether the meeting was on Zoom, Teams or Google Meet.
The steps
- Download the recording from the meeting tool and put it somewhere you will find again.
- Open Limemo, tap + and choose Upload Files.
- Pick the recording. If it is a video, only the audio is used.
- When the transcript is ready, choose a summary format.
What comes back is a transcript normally split by speaker, a summary in the format you picked, and a note you can ask questions about. Transcribing video covers what happens to the file itself.
Name the speakers once
A recorded call usually has more voices than a room does, and Speaker 1, Speaker 2 stops being readable somewhere around the fourth one. Rename them in Edit Speakers; one rename per person takes every line that voice said, not one line at a time.
The meeting nobody recorded
This is where the method above runs out. If there is no file, there is nothing to import, and the calls that go unrecorded are more common than anyone plans for — the host who forgot, the conversation that was never on a call at all.
Limemo does not join meetings. It records the room you are in, which is the case the file-import route cannot cover: put the phone on the table and you get the same note. That is what recording a meeting in the room is about.
It is worth knowing which of the two you are relying on before the meeting rather than after it.
What files work
Audio, video and PDF, one file at a time. Whatever your meeting tool saved the recording as, if it is an audio or a video file it goes in the same way.
Common questions
Does Limemo join the call and take notes?
No. There is no meeting bot. Either you import the recording afterwards, or you record the room you are in with your phone on the table.
Does this work for Teams and Google Meet?
Yes. The steps begin with a recording file, so which tool produced it makes no difference.
Audio only, or does it need the video?
Either. When you import a video, only the audio track is used.
